The popular WWE Hall of Fame Wrestler, Rocky Johnson has breathed his last at the age of 75. A well-known wrestler in the WWE circles, he was later known as the father of Dwayne Johnson who is a familiar name in the Sports and Entertainment realm.
Born Wayde Douglas Bowles, he started his career in the wrestling arena in the mid-1960s. Much of his career was spent in the National Wrestling Alliance. He joined WWE, which was known as the WWF back then in 1983. He teamed up with Tony Atlas for the tag team matches. Their association was named The Soul Patrol and Rocky Johnson acquired the name The Soulman. Atlas and Johnson went on to become the first-ever African-American World Tag Team Champions in WWE.
Rocky Johnson retired from WWE in 1991 but dedicated his retired life to train his son, Dwayne Johnson. His so went on to become a well-known name in WWE. In fact, it was he who inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
Johnson even published his autobiography titled “Soulman: The Rocky Johnson Story,” last year. He has explained his struggling days and his troubled youth in detail in this autobiography. The book has the foreword by his son which makes it even more impressive.
“He’s a weathered soul and like all weathered souls, there’s often a harsh storied path that got them there,” claimed his son through the Instagram post he shared for sharing information about his father. In fact, they both shared more than a father – son relationship. He even gifted his father a new car last Christmas.
We may, perhaps, see his life story coming up on the big screen quite soon. Canadian film producers Jonathan and Justin Gajewski have bought the rights and had been planning to come up with a movie on his life – titled Ring King.
