Google Drive went down for some users, resumed now

Google Drive seemingly had a bad Monday yesterday. The service was disrupted for many of the users across multiple regions. It kept on showing error messages and even stopped people from creating new documents.

If you experienced an outage yesterday and wondering what happened, it was not just you. The disruption was detected by Down Detector  which reported that the issue affected a lot of users. However, that should necessarily mean that the service was down for every user across the world.

While in some regions, the service went down and was restored in just around a few minutes. That made people believe that the issue was with their internet network. Google kept posting the details of the outage on the G Suite Status Dashboard. The Dashboard noted the ongoing issues with the Drive and other apps from the G Suite, which includes Sheets, Docs and Slides.

The message from Google had reported on the dashboard that “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Google Drive… We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are unable to access Google Drive.” You can find the details on the dashboard here

Though we are not sure whether that could be one of the reasons, it should be noticed that Google Drive recently got the PWA – Progressive Web App – compatibility. You will now be able to use Google Drive as a native app on Windows without having to opt for the web interface.

The service has now been restored for most of the regions and users. However, if you are still facing the issue, you should find it getting it resolved soon enough. Google is aware of the issue and you should find the issue being resolved.
