Today, Microsoft had officially released their Chromium based Microsoft edge browser, and this will allow a broad range of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users to test the upcoming based Edge browser as well as report bugs that they may come across.
With its latest release, Microsoft is only making the Edge canary build accessible with the Dev version coming soon. Same as all other Microsoft Edge Insider builds this can also be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Edge Insider site.
This latest release comes following two months when Chromium Edge initially debuted on Windows 10 and a month after it appeared on macOS. Now Microsoft is releasing the daily Canary builds and plans to support the weekly Dev Channel very soon.
With this latest announcement, the company also stated that this build’s feature would be similar to those which are found on Windows 10 however without Internet Explorer Mode. That feature will be introducing at a later date for Enterprise users.
As per Microsoft team blog post, ‘ you will easily explore the experience as well as feature set on prior versions of Windows which are similar as on Windows 10 counting Forthcoming support for Internet Explorer mode for our enterprise customers.’
On the other hand, many features will be same, dark mode is missing as well as Microsoft says there is no support for AAD sign in too.
It has been stated that Edge Chromium will count an IE mode for businesses along with a new Collections feature that is specifically designed for web users to be able to more simply assemble text, images as well as information from the internet into a note. Microsoft noted that users would discover the similar experience and feature set widely that which is provided to Windows 10 devices.
The company clarifies ‘delivering the latest version of Microsoft Edge to all supported versions of Windows is a segment of our aim to improve the web browsing experience on the whole for our users on every device. It is also to empower developers to build great experiences with less fragmentation too. Microsoft edge will offer the same update platform and the same developer tools on all supported versions of Windows as well as macOS.’
