Samsung Galaxy Fold Public Release delayed

After the screen-breaking reports from several reviewers, Samsung has further delayed its public launch of much awaited $2000 folding phone. This launch of Galaxy fold was scheduled for Friday, 3rd May in the UK.

Following the various complaints, the company has delayed its public launch to an undisclosed launch date. This folding phone will go on more test runs and the new launch date has been announced as ‘coming weeks’.

With a price tag of $1,980 (£1,800 in the UK), this delay has been reviewed as a setback for Samsung smartphone market. This innovation was not a mass market hit but this advancement has paved its way to the new horizons for smartphone advances.

There are issues reported by the reviewers while pulling apart the two sides of the folding phone from an average size of a smartphone to the size of a mini tablet.

The flickering, dying and freezing of the screen has also been reported by many journalists in just a couple of days of its usage, when put on the test run. Even some reviewers removed the outer layer of the screen mistakenly (which otherwise should not be removed) and reported scratches afterward on its screen.

However, the company confirmed that the outer layer must stay on but have not disclosed that reason why reviewers are facing internal screen breaks.

The earlier investigation revealed that the pressure put on the hinges while opening and closing the phone could be a possible reason for the screen break. There are certain substances found within the devices which are affecting the performance of its display adversely.

The company said that it will find ways for better protection of screens. Also, it is important to educate the people about the outside protective layer to have remained intact.

It is worth notable that some of the test phones are working well to live up to the assurance of the Samsung that this folding phone can be unfolded for its lifetime for about 200,000 times.

The company has delayed the public release to review the feedback in detail and conduct more internal tests. However, many reviewers voted for the vast potential of this technological advancement while some of them showed up a pathway to the company to deliver a better user experience.
