Amazon’s Alexa can handle patient information now

The users of Amazon Alexa-enabled devices can now manage their personal health records with ease, thanks to a new update. The user will be able to promptly access the latest medical information which their health practitioners have for them, confirmed the company.

It was the agreement that Amazon signed with the health care providers, under the guidelines of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of the year 1996 which made the introduction of such an amazing feature possible.

It is extremely important to follow HIPAA as it controls the way health practitioners and medical staff treat sensitive health information of a patient. And so, the health institution and practitioners and the medical staff which have signed the HIPAA basically have the right to work along with Amazon.

As per a report by CNBC, the health and wellness team of Amazon Alexa has been working really hard to make sure that they become HIPAA compliant. Till now, Amazon has invited 6 health companies to generate voice skills with the help of its Alexa smart voice system. The company expects to expand its reach and invite more health partners in the coming future.

Well, we hope that this change benefits Amazon Alexa users and lets them access aspects of health care with more ease, thus improving their health.
