Facebook and Instagram apparently will continue to let the lies flow in their political ads. In a published newspaper article, the company was seen giving a statement that the ads that are run by them actually depend on the policies and the principles of the political leaders and they should hear it from those people.
However, the company also revealed that they are going to offer more transparency among the users and all those political ads so that they can control what they see. Facebook was also criticized because they are allowing the misinformation in their political ads and are doing nothing about them which is not fair to the users.
So now instead of doing any kind of changes to their ads, they are just going to provide the users with more control over what they see. In this way, they are trying to compensate with the users. Apart from this, the introduction of an all-new feature is also done by the company. This feature is called Ad Library.
With the help of this feature, the users of Facebook will be able to see all the campaigns that are run by various politicians.
In a speech made at Georgetown University last October, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said “I don’t think it’s right for a private company to censor politicians,” according to him the political ads are “an important part of voice” for “local candidates, up-and-coming challengers, and advocacy groups that may not get much media attention otherwise.”
