According to the latest reports, Microsoft is working on a pair of Surface Branded AirPods which will be definitely rising up next to the most famous Apple AirPods. These Apple Earbuds were released in 2016 December and have since become the gold standard for wireless AirPods.
These truly Wireless AirPods from Microsoft are codenamed as ‘Morrisson’ which might point towards Jim Morrison, lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors. These earbuds are speculated to feature passive noise cancellation along with Microsoft’s voice assistant, Cortana. In addition, they are projected to sport a minimalistic design to the abovementioned Surface headphones. Sources also revealed that Surface-branded AirPods by Microsoft will aim towards integrating gestures and which will ultimately improve any form of interactions amid the Smartphone as well as the earbuds.
As per Thurrott’s Brad Sams, who conversed with many people familiar with Microsoft’s plan. They say that the main objective is to spread out the Surface lineup of headphones, i.e. from over ear Surface Headphones to new in-ear model which will be known as Surface Buds. However, sources do not confirm the release date of the headphones but confirm that it would be definitely released in 2019 in any case if the project is not delayed.
However, so far Apple is the individual company to have struck the appropriate balance amid price, size, sound as well as reliability. There were many more companies like Bose and Jabra those who offered compelling options, but nothing proved as simple as Apple’s option. Last year Microsoft also commenced its sale of Surface-branded audio gear, i.e. wireless Surface Headphones which had a good control scheme and wireless performance but it was very much expensive and so did not excel in terms of its sound quality.
As per reports, Amazon is also hard working on Alexa powered wireless earbuds which are known to work the same as Amazon Echo products. As per rumors, users can also trigger the voice assistant in it by saying ‘Alexa’ followed by a command or else a question.
