Tata steel explosion: A massive explosion in Port Talbot

Huge explosion in Port Talbot and two people had suffered injuries when the explosion rocked UK’s largest steelworks causing a fire to break out. As per locals, their houses shook with the force of that explosion at Tata Steel site in early hours today morning. Tata steel, confirmed that an incident took place at their site where more than 4000 people work and the site is at the heart of the local economy.

The incident was also shared online in the form of the video where several bright flashed could be seen. Many emergency services counting firefighters as well as paramedics rushed to the complex after 999 calls started to stream in at about 3:35 am. One of the locals also tweeted: there was a very big blast from Port Talbot steelworks that shook the house.

As per reports of South Wales police, two people suffered minor injuries in the sad incident and also requested locals to avoid that region. Earlier probabilities were that the explosion came from a train which was utilized to carry molten metal. However, the explosion caused some small fires which were now under control as well as s damage to several buildings which were on that site.

Tata steel company tweeted that, its personnel was working with emergency services at the site. They added that ‘we confirm that there is no serious injury and all our employees have been accounted for. All the fires are at present under control.’

The South Wales police alleged that they were aware of the incident at the works and all emergency services were in attendance. They also added that all other information regarding this would be released very soon.

In 2001 also, a blast furnace explosion at the plant in which three people were killed and about 12 injured.
