On Thursday, in the Northern Irish city of Londonderry, a woman was killed after shots were fired during the rioting. Also, petrol bombs were thrown after shots in between the rioting with police treating it as a terrorist incident.

However police are treating this incident as terrorist rioting, but a 29-year-old woman has been killed after shots were fired along with petrol bombs thrown in amidst rioting in Londonderry yesterday. Violence erupted during a major security operation in the Creggan region of the Northern Ireland city. At police Land, Rover’s masked attackers threw petrol bombs, fireworks as well as other debris.

Police had barricaded the Fanad Drive area as violence left a van as well as a car burnt out in the middle of a road. The earlier police force also tweeted and appealed ‘‘police are appealing for calm following many shots have been fired as well as petrol bombs thrown in the Creggan area of Derry.

Mark Hamilton, Assistant chief constable from Police Service of Northern Ireland supposed a murder inquiry which had been launched following the death. He alleged ‘sorrowfully I confirm that after shots being fired last night in Creggan, a 29 years old woman has been killed. We are treating this incident as a terrorist confrontation, and we have launched a murder inquiry too.’

Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Robin Swann said the news of the death was really ‘devastating.’ On this, he tweeted ‘a precious life lost, we cannot go back to this, nor we can permit others to drag us back.’ ’

As per the Democratic Unionist Party leader, Arlene Foster, this killing is a ‘senseless act.’ She added that ‘a family has been torn apart and those who brought guns onto our street in the 70s, 80s as well as in 90s were wrong. This act is equally wrong in 2019 also.’ She also said that ‘no one wants to go back and my thoughts are also with the brave officers who stood in defense.’

A DUP former deputy mayor of Derry City Council and current Member of the Legislative Assembly, Gary Middleton, also tweeted. He tweeted ‘disgraceful scenes of valance in the Creggan estate tonight.’ He also said ‘PSNI as well as members of the public being put in danger by unrepresentative thugs intent on destroying communities.’
